It was a day most will remember as the day they were chased and bit by a police dog or the day they had to "Sumo Up!"

Thank you to all that participated, donated, sponsored and volunteered for the 2009 UAC.  We had more teams compete than ever before and the money continues to trickle in.

Registration fee is $300.00 (non-refundable) per team with proceeds to help the Kelowna Community Food Bank's Tiny Bundles program.

EVENT DETAILS

• Saturday April 25, 2009 – Registration begins at City Park at 9:00 am, teams must be ready to compete by 9:45 am. The race will officially begin at 10:00am and finish at 4:00pm
• Teams will be required to complete a series of challenges, some will be mandatory, some optional
• Prizes for top three teams, plus top three fund raising teams and many other door prizes
• Wrap Up party at the Industry Lounge in the Prestige Hotel following the event.
• Supporting the Tiny Bundles Program at the Kelowna Food Bank
• Tiny Bundles is non-government funded program
• Over 45 Volunteers

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
• Waiver: Please bring your signed waiver to the check in table
• Registration Fee: if you have not paid via Pay Pal
• Identification: Will be required at the check in table
• Water: There are NO water stations, so please bring your own
• Backpack: To carry your water and other items you may to bring on the race
• Detailed Map: A Kelowna city map could come in handy
• Snacks: There is NO food stations, so please bring your own
• Paper & Pen: In case you need to write something down
• Cell Phone: This could save your bacon every once and a while
• Sunscreen: Will protect you while racing in the sun

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE CHALLENGE
• A good night sleep could make the difference in where you place
• A healthy breakfast in the morning would certainly help
• Drink plenty of fluids
• Bring the recommended items in a backpack
• Be open minded about the Challenge, the Kelowna Community Food Bank and JCI Okanagan thank you for your support

FINISH LINE
• The Urban Adventure Challenge officially ends at 4:00 pm.  Teams that have not crossed the finish line are asked to return to City Park immediately to enjoy some draw prizes, cold beverages and share stories with other racers
• Post-Race celebrations and prizes will be hosted in the Industry Lounge in the Prestige Hotel
• To be eligible for the top three prizes teams must complete all required Challenges and must cross the finish line before the 4:00 pm deadline

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Once a team has begun competition it is understood that the team has read, understands, acknowledges and agrees to comply with the game rules and penalties.

2. The team participants must stick together and compete together at all times. Your partner must be within 20 feet at all times. A challenge can not be started unless both team members are present at the location. Only one challenge can be performed at a time. Any attempts to separate will lead to disqualification.

3. The teams may only travel by foot or using public transit.  The use of cars, taxi cabs, limousines, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, scooters, motorcycles, handy dart and any other private transportation are strictly prohibited.  Any team caught using prohibited transportation will be automatically disqualified.

4. Teams will not remove or hide clues at the various challenges.  Any participate caught doing this will be disqualified immediately.

5. All teams must have 2 players. All players must be 19 years of age or older.

6. All participants are required to sign a waiver prior to participating in any of the challenges

7. All teams are required to check-in at the City Park UAC table between 9:00 am and 9:30 am on race day for registration.

8. All teams must be ready to start the race by 9:45 am. Any teams arriving after 9:45 am will be disqualified.

9. All JCI Okanagan or their volunteer representatives’ rulings are final throughout the event. Any disputes must be brought to the volunteer immediately and a decision will be made at that time.

10. All teams must complete 13 of 17 challenges, including all mandatory challenges. The first team to correctly complete all 13 challenges and return to City Park will be declared the unofficial winner, until reviewed by JCI Okanagan representatives.

11. All teams must OBEY THE LAW at all times and play safe and responsibly.

12. All teams must respect JCI Okanagan, the volunteers, sponsors and transit operators. Foul language and arguing will not be tolerated, JCI Okanagan reserves the right to penalize or disqualify participates who engage in this type of behaviour.

13. Consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs during the event is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification.

14. To be eligible for the prizes the teams must complete all required challenges both mandatory and optional and return to City Park. Prizes will be awarded at the wrap-up event.

15. If there is a tie at the finish line, both teams will be entered into a draw and the winner will be selected by JCI Okanagan, that decision will be final.

16. Cell phones and internet devices are allowed to be used to assist in solving the challenges.

17. Teams must wear their UAC identification where it will be visible at all times.

18. After completing the challenge to the volunteer’s satisfaction, each team must check in with the volunteer before advancing to the next challenge.

19. If there is a line up at a challenge, the teams will complete the challenge in the order that they arrived at the location or choose to move to another challenge. JCI Okanagan or their volunteer representative will have the final decision on the order in which the challenge will be completed by the teams.

20. Participants can accept help, assistance, support and guidance from strangers, family members, friend and acquaintances.  However participants can NOT accept or pre schedule rides or help transporting from challenge to challenge.  It is the obligation of the participants to decline any such assistance if offered. 

21. Comply with the directions of the UAC volunteers, local authorities, and property and/or venue owners and managers.

22. This event may be filmed, photographed for promotional purposes. The photographs and video footage will be used on our website, posters and media releases.  The more photos we have, the more we can promote this wonderful event for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.

23. UAC officials reserve the right to disqualify for any reason at any time, at their absolute and sole discretion, any team or team member engaging in, or thoughts to be engaging in, any conduct that is contrary to these Official Rules or the instructions of UAC officials.  Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, UAC officials reserve the right to disqualify any team member or team that appears to the UAC official not to be conducting themselves in a safe and sportsmanlike manner.  In the event that a single team member is disqualified, his/her team shall be disqualified and forfeit the right to participate further in the UAC or to win a prize.

24. JCI Okanagan reserves the right to refuse the registration of any participant or team.
